As a Southern California native, I started my 30-year photo career surfing and shooting pictures of my friends at the beach. It evolved into shooting pictures of just about everything I saw. Every image excited me. Architecture, portraits, landscapes, travel, any and all types of light and compositions. Originally, I shot pictures strictly for myself. I decided I wanted to understand the medium better so I enrolled in a few classes at Pasadena City College and that is where I met my mentor. He took my work and critiqued it, and for the first time, I got a little feedback on what I had been shooting “just for myself”. My mentor told me, ”This stuff is really good. You could make a living at photography.”

From that moment on, my career was set. I was going to roam around surfing and shooting travel pictures and make a living at it. Instead I got serious about my career choice and enrolled in Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, Ca. The surfing and travel part of photography didn’t work out the way I had planned but I wouldn’t change any part of my 30 years of shooting.

Photography has taken me to the most amazing places in the world, from the Olympic games to 15 years of shooting at the Academy Awards. During my tenure as a photographer, I have met some of the most interesting people imaginable. My list of photographic subjects includes celebrities, Presidents, architecture, sports, still life, public relations events and charitable organizations. I even got the opportunity to shoot my childhood sports idol. A day I will never forget.

I always make the most of every assignment by creating an image that I am proud to give to my client and they are happy to use for their intended purposes. I am proud to say the bulk of my business is return clients. Many of them have been with me for over 20 years.

Everyday is a challenge that I love to meet.  I can’t imagine doing anything else.
